Another project we conducted at the Complutense University of Madrid integrated the use of toys (Lego and Playmobil) to create pictures designed to disseminate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Our students had to come up with mockup posters that NGOs and Public Institutions could use to spread awareness of different aspects regarding violence against women. These are the first drafts of the posters they designed; they are in Spanish, so we have included an English translation at the bottom of each poster.
Translation: NOT ONLY LEGOS HIDE A SILENT FACE. November 25th. International Day for the Elimination of Violence Againts Women.
Translation: DON'T REMAIN SILENT, DON'T BE AN ACCOMPLICE. This poster was designed to invite witnesses of violence against women to call the special number the Ministry of Gender Equality has set up to denounce these cases
Translation: WHEN HE USES THEM, IT IS TO HURT YOU. Up to 800,000 children witness and suffer the consequences of domestic violence between their parents and only 4% of them get specialized attention. THIS IS VIOLENCE TOO.
Translation: DON'T GET BLINDED BY THE LIGHTS. THIS IS ALSO HARASSMENT. 97% of the women surveyed by the Health and Community Foundation has experienced some kind of sexual violence in nightlife contexts.
Translation: VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN IS NOT A GAME. 70 women have been murdered in Spain in 2021.
Translation: THIS IS NOT A GAME. This picture refers to the many gang rapes that have taken place in Spain in the past few years, the most notoriously infamous of them being the case of "La Manada"
I like the connection with lego. Even for me the images make it clear what the message is.
All the photos represent securely the best way to communicate a complex topic as violence. In this case, also the young people (like children) can understand the message!😉
